HISTORY OF E-STRANDS & NEW MIND PARTNERSHIP

One of the E-Strands Directors used to work for the Northumbria Tourist Board, producing a system called “Desti.ne”.  This system provided a mechanism to capture and maintain Tourist Board members’ accommodation, attractions and events data for North East England, covering areas from Berwick to Teesside and Sunderland to Durham. Captured data was used to feed the local website Visit Northumbria. In addition, Desti.ne was to provide tourism management, promotion and fulfilment tools.

With the arrival of Regional Development Agencies and One North East, the Northumbria Tourist Board was merged into One North East. Once under the umbrella of ONE, the technical size of the Desti.ne project outgrew the internal team, and it went out to tender for an external body to provide a solution.

The tender for providing “Desti.ne” was won by Agilisys, who collaborated with New Mind and EVIIVO to offer ONE a solution that consisted of 3 parts:

New Mind - Destination Management System

New Mind - Enterprise Content Management System

EVIIVO - Frontdesk

With a new solution in place, the "Desti.ne platform" was developed for One North East, creating highly functional, dynamic tourism websites for North East England, which continually evolve and increase in features today (long after our Director left!).
